The best tips for your motorhome journey in Belgium

It's time to discover the most beautiful places in Belgium with the camper van. You will find numerous historical sights such as the trenches of Ypres and the mine of Blegny. But also the Ardennes, because of its beautiful landscapes, are a very popular nature area with national and international camper van owners. The Ardennes have more to offer than just nature, for example the cosy town of Durbuy. Visit these and more sights during your next motorhome trip through Belgium. The mine of Blegny

There used to be a coal mine in Blegny. Nowadays, the mines are on the UNESCO World Heritage list. This is one of the few mines in Europe that is open to the public, which makes it worth visiting during your campervan trip through Belgium. In the mine you will learn all about the miners, who were also called 'koempels'. You will also learn all about how the coal is washed and the sorting process. There is also an exhibition where you can learn all about the history. And of course you get to see the impressive underground construction.

The coastline

Along the Belgian coast there are several beautiful locations. One of the better known beaches is the one at Knokke-Heist, where you can also find Holiday Village Knokke to spend the night with your campervan. Apart from the beach, Knokke-Heist is especially known for its entertainment. You will find here for example a casino and numerous restaurants and shops. Ostend is also a fine seaside resort to visit during your campervan trip through Belgium. Here you can spend a long day on the vast sandy beach. You can also visit the Atlantic Wall open-air museum here. Here you will find various bunkers and trenches from the Second World War.

During the war, many mines were hit here. Finally, you can visit Bayernwald, where you will find a trench system and mine shaft, among other things. Durbuy

Durbuy is located in the Belgian Ardennes and is a great stop during your motorhome trip through Belgium! It has an impressive medieval city centre bursting with houses from the 17th and 18th century. The highlights in Durbuy are the 17th century castle Château de Durbuy, which is not open to the public, and the Falize Rock. The castle is worth a visit because of its beautiful location by the river and in the greenery! The Falize Rock is more than 300 million years old and was created by the pushing up of various layers of limestone over the centuries. A very impressive natural spectacle!

You will spend the night just outside the centre of Durbuy on the Ourthe River at P Mobilhome Le Vedeur.

Visit the breweries of Belgium on your motorhome journey

Belgium is of course the country where the most delicious beers are brewed. So it's time to visit the breweries! In Achouffe you can visit the brewery of the famous beer with the goblin, La Chouffe. During your visit to Antwerp, you can also visit the city brewery of De Koninck, where you can learn everything about beer interactively. Leffe is also a well-known Belgian beer brand. Near Dinant, you will find the Maison Leffe where you can taste this delicious beer!

The cave of Han-sur-Lesse

In Han-sur-Lesse, you will find impressive caves during your campervan trip through Belgium. Here you can admire beautiful stalactites and chambers that are worth a visit. The natural spectacle was shaped by the river Lesse that flows through here, the river that is also found in the name of Han-sur-Lesse. One of the most special locations in the caves is Origin. This light and sound show tells you a wonderful story about the origin of the earth. If you want to visit the caves, you can take a tram from the centre of Han-sur-Lesse up the hill. Then you can discover the most beautiful spots of the caves in about 2 kilometres.
