Wine route through Spain: Penedès

In the northeast of Spain you will find the Penedès region, in Catalonia. The towns of Vilafranca del Penedès and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia are a good base from where you can visit various wine producers. Besides wine, this region also produces a lot of cava.

From Vilafranca del Penedès

At Bodegas Miguel Torres you can book several delicious experiences, such as a wine tasting with various typical Spanish cheeses or Iberian hams. You will also find a restaurant at the foot of the vineyard where you can enjoy delicious local food.

Parés Baltà Winery offers various wines and cavas produced in a biodynamic way. In the case of Parés Baltà Winery, this means, among other things, that they have a flock of sheep for natural fertilisation and bees that help pollinate.

Approximately between Vilafranca del Penedès and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia lies Celler Mas Comtal, where they produce ecological wines. Here too you can taste wine in combination with delicious small tapas such as cheeses or smoked fish, or book a delicious Spanish brunch. There are also segway tours through the vineyards and to the monastery of Sant Sebastià dels Gorgs, where you can also taste the wines.

Spend the night here at 'Vilafranca del Penedès', just outside the city centre.

To go out in the neighbourhood Montserrat is highly recommended. The origin of the bastard that lies there is a great mystery, which makes the visit all the more special. The boys' choir and the museum of Montserrat are also worth a visit. And of course a visit to the metropolis of Barcelona is always a good idea!
