Visit Britain's most beautiful National Parks by motorhome

Britain is bursting with rugged countryside that you can brave with a motorhome! From your motorhome you can go out for lovely walks or bike rides, but there's no lack of culture in these national parks either. Stop off at the typical British villages during your motorhome trip or go for a real whisky tasting: a varied and adventurous motorhome trip is guaranteed!

Peak District was Britain's first national park. Here you will find all the ingredients you would expect from a national park in England: waterfalls, mountains, caves, typical English villages and vast valleys. The national park is perfect for walking, cycling and climbing. For walkers, Kinder Scout is one of the most famous walks, and with good reason! After a tough climb you will be treated to a beautiful view. For cyclists there are several trails through the park, of which the Monsal Trail is the most famous because of the different railway tunnels you will encounter along the way. There is something for every level of activity, which makes it a perfect national park for all ages!

This is where you'll find the highest peaks in the south of Britain! Don't be put off by this, because the mountainous area is largely passable at all levels. However, it is advisable for walkers to know how a compass works, as you may not have directions in the open meadows! This is also an ideal area for cyclists, so be sure to take the bikes with you on your motorhome trip to ride one of the many cycle routes. What makes Brecon Beacons even more special is that the national park is an International Dark Sky Reserve. This means that when the weather is clear at night you will see a beautiful starry sky - without light pollution - like you will hardly see anywhere else in Europe! So be sure to sneak out of the motorhome window at night.

You can spend the night in the village of Crickhowell near Beaufort Street Car Park. From Crickhowell you can see the summit of Crug Hywel, or Table Mountain! Perfect for a day walk from the village.

It's time for the real Scottish Highlands! In winter this area is mainly known as a ski resort, in summer it is a paradise for nature and whisky lovers! You can walk along the various lochs, including Loch an Eilein with a beautiful old castle on an island in the middle. In addition to various walks and bike rides you will come across several typical Scottish villages during your motorhome trip through the national park. Of these, Aviemore is perfect to visit with children, as there is a real Reindeer Centre nearby that you can visit. In the summer months you can even hike from here with the reindeer on the mountains behind! Throughout the year you can admire the reindeer at the centre itself.

You can spend the night at Balmoral Visitor Centre in Ballater or at Tomintoul Bowlingclub Campsite in Tomintoul.

Snowdonia is a perfect area to make (short) roadtrips with your motorhome or campervan, the beautiful views fly around your ears from the road! So be sure to stop at a safe place and enjoy the breathtaking views. Of course the area is also perfect for walkers and cyclists. In this national park you'll find Wales' highest mountain: the Snowdon, 1,085 metres high. Of course you can climb it, but for those who want to, there is also the possibility to take a train to the top. For culture lovers there is also plenty to do. For example, the 13th century Conwy Castle is located just outside the national park. Liverpool - the city of The Beatles - is also a relatively short distance away.

Loch Lomond & the Trossachs is exactly what you would expect from a national park in Scotland. Here you will find many lochs, including of course Loch Lomond, several whisky distilleries and beautiful mountain peaks, of which the most famous is Conic Hill. From here you can only see lakes for as far as you can see! For walkers the famous West Highland Way runs through this area, of which you can of course walk a small section from your motorhome. Cyclists will also have a great time here and can cycle along the various lochs.

Waking up overlooking a loch can be done from the Loch Katrine motorhome site in Callander. Also at The Cabin at Loch Lubnaig, also in Callander, you can spend the night at the water's edge with your motorhome.
