From north to south with the motorhome through Luxembourg

Although small in size, Luxembourg has more than enough to offer for a great motorhome trip from north to south. Explore the country as you pass beautiful old towns, which alternate with the most beautiful nature! After reading this article, are you looking for even more inspiration for your motorhome trip through Luxembourg? Take a look at the destination page of this country!

Stop 1. Liefrange

Liefrange is situated right on the banks of the Sûre, so you can take a nice dive into the forested lake early in the morning! You can also enjoy canoeing, sailing and diving on the lake, which is highly recommended for water sports enthusiasts! In the green surroundings of Liefrange you can also make lovely walks, so don't forget to bring your hiking boots for a brisk walk from the motorhome stopover.

Stay the night close to the lake at Camperhafen Leifreg.

Stop 2. Mersch

The historic city of Mersch is perfect for a lesser-known motorhome destination in Luxembourg where you can combine city and nature. In the centre you'll find various sights, including a medieval castle, which belongs to one of the seven castles of the 'Valley of the Seven Castles', where you'll -in fact- find seven castles. Mersch is the perfect starting point to drive the castle route that belongs to this valley by camper. Furthermore, you can hike perfectly in the surroundings of Mersch: in the green forest reserve Pëttenerbësch, but also at the Mamerleeën Caves.

You can stay overnight in Mersch with your motorhome at campsite Krounebierg.

Stop 3. Luxemburg city

Welcome to the UNESCO-listed city of Luxembourg! If you have often immersed yourself in nature at the start of this motorhome tour, this is the place for culture. Not only the city centre with its historical architecture is worth a visit, there is also plenty to see underground! This can be done at the Casemates, which used to be underground shelters. This may well be Luxembourg's landmark. The casemates of Bock and Pétrussedal can be visited. For walking in the surroundings of Luxembourg city, the areas mentioned earlier are recommended, because the landscape around Luxembourg city is a bit flatter than in the north. Fortunately, during your motorhome trip through Luxembourg you will come across plenty of places where this is possible!

Stay the night just outside Luxembourg at parking Glacis, where you are allowed to stay the night.

Stop 4. Dudelange

At the foot of Mont St-Jean you will find the hidden gem of the country: Dudelange. Especially the ruins of the castle are a major attraction here, and it always has been. In the Middle Ages this area was already known for the pagan rituals that were held here. Today, pilgrims still come here every year on the evening before the St. John's feast, on 23 July. Dudelange also has several museums that are worth visiting, including the impressive National Museum of Immigration and the Local Museum Dudelange. It doesn't matter that the city is not at the top of every list for a trip through Luxembourg, the unknown makes this city a good destination for your motorhome trip through Luxembourg!

Stay the night just outside Dudelange at Parking Gare-Usines.
