The South of France is a popular region for motorhomers, and that is not surprising! Camargue

In the marshlands of Camargue, you will enjoy hours of walking among the beautiful plants and animals. Here, you can spot wild bulls, horses and flamingos, among other things: animals that you do not encounter just anywhere! In the wild, you already have a good chance to see the flamingos, but if you want to be sure to see them, visit the Parc Ornithologique where you can admire various special birds. The area is also known for its great horseback riding. If you prefer to go by bike, that is also possible. There are several bicycle routes through the area. So don't forget to bring your bikes when you visit Camargue during your motorhome journey! You can easily discover the nature area from the city of Arles. You probably know this city from Van Gogh, who made his work 'The yellow house' here. In the city you will also find various remains from the Roman times.

Marseille

Welcome to the oldest city in France: Marseille! The city is not only the oldest, but also the third largest city in the country. Choose to relax during your motorhome journey on one of the many beaches or discover the city centre. At Le Vieux Port, the marina, you will find two forts, Fort Saint Nicolas and Fort Saint-Jean. Both were built by Louis XIV to protect the city. If you want to discover the Montmartre of Marseille, then the district Le Panier is recommended. Besides the many nice little squares to enjoy a croissant and orange juice on a terrace, you will find plenty of street art and studios here. Other highlights of the city are the Cathédrale de la Major, characterised by the many stripes on the outside, and the Palais Longchamp with its two museums.

Carcassonne

The UNESCO listed Carcassonne is a beautiful medieval fortified city in the south of France. A real gem during your motorhome journey through this region! The name may sound familiar to you, as the famous board game of the same name is based on the city. There has been a settlement here since the 8th century BC. During the time of the Romans, the city slowly expanded. During that time, the city wall was built, which you can admire on a city walk. Also visit the twelfth-century castle Château Comtal or one of the four entrance gates. The cathedral was also already there around the year 1000. So this location offers enough medieval sights to keep you entertained for a day while travelling in your motorhome in the South of France!

Or maybe you can explore the mountains on a climbing expedition! Of course, this is also impressive enough to watch from a distance with both feet on the ground. ;) One of the most beautiful reservoirs to explore the area from is Lac de Castillon. The lake is surrounded by plenty of greenery and you can recover from your activities on one of the many beaches. Another highlight with the motorhome in the Gorges du Verdon is the Route des Crêtes that runs through the area.
