On the road: active motorhome trip through the Black Forest

Next to various mountains and forests for nice long walks, the Black Forest in Germany also offers the necessary culture and relaxation in one of their many spa’s! Take a motorhome trip along these highlights or choose one destination, it’s all possible! During your trip you will certainly come across cuckoo clocks, which originate from the Black Forest, and numerous typical German villages, which will make you feel like you are in the real Germany!

Freiburg

The historical Freiburg is also often called the capital of the Black Forest. Freiburg is a real student city, which makes it a vibrant city. The Altstadt – the old city centre – is a pedestrian zone, but from Reisemobilplatz Freiburg you can easily walk to the centre, so that’s no problem at all! Just outside the city centre you can find the Schlossberg. You can reach the mountain by cable car of via one of two hiking trails. From here you have a beautiful view over the city and surrounding hills!

Feldberg

Welcome to the highest point of the Black Forest! When the weather is clear, you even seem to be able to see the Alps from here. In winter, this is a well-known winter sports area, but in summer you can call it a true hiking or cycling paradise. So, go out here for a nice walking- or cycling trip and then relax with a delicious German beer in your hand.

For the Feldberg you can best spend the night in nearby Titisee or at Wohnmobil Stellplatz Todtnau.

Titisee

Titisee is a moment of relaxation after the activities on the Feldberg. First of all, you can find lake Titisee here, a large lake where you can swim of take part in water sports. The village is renowned for its cuckoo clocks, from which you will also encounter the most unusual creations in the rest of the Black Forest! For the enthusiasts there is also the Badeparadies Schwarzwald, a large swimming paradise where you can both enjoy recreational swimming and go to the sauna. If you are in Titisee for relaxation, don’t forget to try a piece of real Black Forest Cherry Cake, a delicious cherry pie soaked in cherry water!

Triberg

Triberg im Schwarzwald is mostly known for its beautiful waterfalls. These are the biggest waterfalls of Germany, which you can find in about a 15-minute walk from the city centre. Besides the hikes to the waterfalls there are many more hiking options around Triberg. In the town you also find the Schwarzwaldmuseum, where you can learn everything about the history of the region. Because of its typical German houses, Triberg is a true historical German town where you can perfectly combine action with relaxation because you can find yourself in nature within a few minutes on foot!

Baden-Baden

After all these activities you may be in need of some relaxation. That’s what Baden-Baden is perfect for! Here you will find perhaps the most famous spa baths in Germany. In addition, the town itself has a lot to offer as well. The old city centre remained undamaged during both World Wars, so you can still admire it in all its splendour! You can also visit a ruin of – how could it be otherwise with this place name – Roman baths.

After your visit to the ruins there are of course a number of Biergartens to enjoy a fresh beer. If you still have energy after the many walks through the forest the previous days, there are plenty of beautiful hiking trails nearby. Baden-Baden is also strategically located to drive by on the way back, so that's ideal when you visit all the places in this article!
