These are the best places to travel with your motorhome in January!

January, the month of new years resolutios and new challenges. The busy festive days are behind us, so this is the perfect time to get away with your motorhome. Perhaps you have some countries on your 2023 bucketlist, or you might just want to get out of the mundane everyday. Anyways, these are our tips for motorhome travel in January.

It's cold and grey, but this isn't the case in all of Europe! Get in your motorhome and drive to the south. We surpass France and even Spain and ultimately end up in Portugal! Do you want to head to the beach? Then Albufeira is the perfect place to go, it is one of the biggest cities in the warmest part of Portugal. In the summer, it's a hotspot for youth, but in winter it's a very relaxing place. Unfortunately, since the average temperature lies between 12 and 18 degrees, it is a bit too cold to sunbathe, but that does not mean that you should not visit this place! The beaches are impressive on its own; the gigantic rocks and the enormous waves make for a spectacular view. A lot of beach clubs will be closed, but if you head to the city you'll notice that restaurants and shops are opened as per usual. January is the perfect month to head in the mountains with your ski's. Travel via Germany to Austria. Right across the border, you'll find Wohnmobilhafen Arienberg. Here, you can instantly take the skilift to Marienberg. You could also decide to drive to Ehrwald in the morning, and visit a slightly larger ski resort. Fun fact: there are over nine ski resorts in this area!

Don't fancy skiing? No problem, there are lots of other things to do around here. Sledge riding, ice skating or nordic skiing, it does not matter what you want to do, you could do everything here! Take your snowshoes with you and make an active hike through the snowy mountains, this will offer you the nicest views and allows you to get away from the hustle and bustle on the slopes. In the evening, you can warm up and have a nice meal in one of the many nice restaurants!

Of course, you do not have to travel for hours to make a fun motorhome trip. You could also just get away close to home! There are lots of fun things to do in winter in Belgium. For example, you could do a museum tour! This will bring you to the nicest and most inspiring museums without getting too cold!

Don't mind the cold? Then, try visiting a castle! One of the most famous castles in Belgium is Kasteel Gravensteen in Ghent. This castle is almost entirely intact, which makes it a very impressive building. From the towers of the castle you'll have a gorgeous view over the city. You can park your motorhome close to the centre at Kamperautoterrein Driebeek, from here, you'll be in the centre of Ghent in no time!
