With the motorhome to the Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol! The ideal destination for sun lovers. The fine climate, the vast sandy beaches and the many hours of sunshine ensure that every year many motor home drivers head for the south of Spain. Of course it is wonderful to enjoy the sun on a sunbed, but there is so much more to do on this diverse coastline. How about a visit to the caves of Nerja or a ride in a cable car? We give you the best tips to get the most out of your motorhome trip.

The best views in Benalmadena

Hop on the cable car for the best views of the Costa del Sol. The cable car in Benalmadena takes you to the top of the Calamorro. This mountain is 780 meters high! Once you arrive at the mountain, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the Mediterranean Sea. On the Calamorro there are several hiking trails that take you to the most special viewpoints. Be surprised by all the beauty you see and with a little luck you can even see Morocco. Along the way you will encounter many special birds of prey. From eagles, owls to large falcons. You will find the most impressive birds. In the high season you can even visit a falconry show. Are you a real hiker and are you in good shape? Then take up the challenge and descend the mountain. This descent will take you about 2 hours!

Cooling down in the caves of Nerja

Find coolness in the caves of Nerja. At 3 kilometers north of the city of Nerja you will find this limestone cave of no less than 4 kilometers long. This cave was discovered by accident in 1959 by five young people who were hunting for bats. In this underground world you will find the world's longest and largest stalactite. Let yourself be guided through the underground rooms along the stalactites and wall paintings from the Stone Age. The guide will be only too happy to tell you everything about the caves of Nerja. Would you rather discover all the cave secrets yourself? Then choose an audio tour and discover the underground world at your own pace. In the nearby town of Torrox-Costa you can spend the night at Camper Area Milucar. Here you will spend a quiet night at the water's edge with a view of the sea.

El Caminito del Rey: a spectacular footpath

El Caminito del Rey was created at the beginning of the 20th century. The flow of water through the gorge was perfect for generating electricity. In order for this electricity project to run smoothly, an access road was built for employees. Years later, this path was given a name. The path was named after King Alfonso XIII. In fact, he opened a reservoir in 1921. This reservoir was only accessible by this narrow path. Since then it has been called El Caminito del Rey or the King's Path. El Caminito del Rey was known as one of the most dangerous hiking trails in the world. For years materials were transported via this path, but at one point this was no longer possible. Parts of the path crumbled, railings disappeared and holes appeared. Still, daredevils risked to walk this path, unfortunately sometimes with a deadly result. In 2015, a newly renovated path was opened. What was once the most dangerous route is now a safe and spectacular hiking trail with breathtaking views. Are you daring enough to hike this trail? Then put on sturdy walking shoes, put on your helmet and be led by an experienced guide.
