Discover the French and Belgian Ardennes from your motorhome

Both in France and Belgium you can visit the vast Ardennes, but what are the most beautiful places? The locations below have been selected on the basis of their special activities, beautiful nature or even special shape. With these tips you can easily choose your next motorhome destination in the Ardennes!

France

Givet
In Givet in particular, the Fortress of Charlemont, conceived by Charles the Fifth, will catch your eye, towering from a rock above the city. The fortress has been in different hands throughout history. Today, the fort is in the hands of the municipality of Ardenne Rives de Meuse. Climb up to see what history has brought about here and enjoy the magnificent view of the Meuse! In addition, there are several walking and cycling routes in the area to discover the green surroundings.

Spend the night at Camping Municipal in front of the campsite gate or at the Givet motorhome stopover.

Monthermé
In the beautiful Monthermé you will find the Roc la Tour viewpoint. Do you smell a mysterious sulphur smell? It could just be, because rumour has it that a former landlord made a pact with the devil in order to get a large castle... Nearby is also the Laval-Dieu Abbey, a must to do a guided tour and learn all about the history of the abbey and its brewery! Cheers! ;-)

Spend the night in Monthermé at the motorhome stopover or in the marina.

Rocroi
What's special about Rocroi: the city is in a star shape! There is a reason why it was built like this, because it allowed all the soldiers to get to the defences quickly. The town centre is surprisingly well preserved, which certainly has its charm! A walk will take you past many military works such as a large and imposing arsenal. Napoleon took a break here after the battle of Waterloo, so history, the town certainly has that!

Spend the night in Rocroi at the Rocroi motorhome stopover.

Belgium

Barvaux
Near Barvaux, you will certainly amuse yourself! Of course you can enjoy walking and cycling in the area, but you can also – by foot or by bike- go to the smallest city in the world from here: Durbuy! In this small town you will find, among other things, beautiful streets with 17th century houses and the imposing Falize rock. Near Barvaux you can also go canoeing on the Ourthe, children can find their way through the maze of the city. Enough ingredients for an active trip!

In Barvaux you will find a motorhome stopover where you can spend the night.

La Roche-en-Ardenne
La Roche-en-Ardenne is not far from Barvaux and there are many activities to do here as well. For example, visit the city's slate castle, from where you have a magnificent view. The caves of Rotton and the reservoir of Nisramont are also a very nice destination for a day out, both for young and old. Last but not least, of course, you can also hike and cycle here, after all, you are in the Ardennes!
