To help you get started, we have listed five free motorhome stopovers for you!

Borgofranco sul Po

We start in northern Italy! The village of Borgofranco sul Po is a perfect stopover if you want to see the highlights of the north of Italy. First, visit the metropolis of Milan, where you can visit one of the largest cathedrals in the world, among other things. Or head to the Golden Quadrangle, Milan's fashion district. Although you can empty your wallet there, you don't have to. You can also walk through without buying anything to see the impressive paintings and statues. Driving out of Milan, you can spend the night at Borgofranco sul Po. From here, it's only half an hour's drive to Lake Garda and Verona. If you want to drive a little further, you can also go to Venice or Bologne.

Milaan

- Visit the impressive Duomo in Milan!

Cava de’ Tirreni

From Cava de' Tirreni you can go in different directions. Visit the popular town of Pompeii known for its petrified people. To get an idea of exactly what happened there, head to Orto dei fuggiaschi, 'The Garden of Refugees'. There you can see the casts of 13 victims. Yet another town you can go to from this motorhome stopover is Positano. The colourful town slopes steeply up the mountain, making it a pretty picture to look at. Surely the town's eye-catcher is the yellow church of Santa Maria Assunta. If you are willing to drive a little further, behind Pompeii lies Naples, where you can learn about Italy's history.

Positano

- Positano is known for its colourful houses!

Solda

Up against the border of Switserland lies Solda. If you want to take a break from busy cities and find some peace and quiet, this is the perfect place. In winter, it is close to a popular ski resort, making it an attractive motorhome stop to drive to not only in summer. A short drive away from the stop is Stelvio National Park. It may not be Italy's best-known national park, but it is one of its largest and oldest natural areas. Hiking, cycling or touring with your motorhome; you choose how you prefer to travel through the mountains. Enter the footsports of the winners of the Giro d'Italia by cycling on the Stelvio Pass.

Stelviopas

- Try challenging yourself by cycling the Stelvio Pass!

Molino del Ponte

Yet another camperstop where you can choose where to go. Love history and culture? Then you must go to Florence! With the well-known Uffizi museum as your calling card. The former palace Palazzo Vecchio houses several famous works of art by Caravaggio, Botticelli and others. You can also go from Molino del Ponte to Pisa for the world-famous Leaning Tower or to port city Livorno. At the latter, visit the fortress or take a boat trip through Quartiere La Venezia. The "Venice Quarter" is a special district in the city's historic centre and, as its name suggests, is compared to Venice.

Florence

- Visit the old historic buildings Florence has to offer!

Caltanissetta

In the middle of Sicily lies the free motorhome stopover Caltanissetta. From here you can head out to all the beautiful areas the province has to offer. Go to the city of Agrigento, for example. Here you will find one of the most beautiful Greek temple complexes: the Valle dei Templi. Yes, you read it right! This is one of the few temple complexes to be found outside of Greece. While some temples are completely dilapidated, others look as if time has stood still. Or head to the fishing village of Cefalú, where you can relax on the beach or stroll through the narrow streets to shop at the authentic shops. Finally, you could visit the smoking crater of Mount Etna. It is one of Europe's most famous volcanoes and even one of the most active in the world. A visit is therefore not always possible due to eruption danger, but if it is possible, we recommend you to take the chance.

Griekse tempelcomplexen

- At Valle dei Templi, you can feast your eyes on all the dilapidated statues and buildings.
