Slagharen is a village in the municipality of Hardenberg, located in the Dutch province of Overijssel. Many will know this village for its famous theme park, but did you know that there is a wealth of other fun activities to be found here? This piece of the Netherlands is perfect for a small (weekend) getaway. Are you eager to find out more about the activities around here, and where you could spend the night with your motorhome? Slagharen's surroundings are incredibly beautiful, and this is due to the nearby Vecht valley. The Overijssel river Vecht flows through this beautiful valley. This river originates in Germany and, after running 60 kilometres through the Netherlands, ends in Zwolle.

In fact, the municipality of Hardenberg exists of numerous of picturesque villages that lie in the Vecht valley, one of which is Slagharen! You will find no less than 13 (!) nature reserves in this green municipality. This means that there are endless cycling and biking trails here, but since the river Vecht flows through the area, you can also admire the beautiful nature from the water!

As aforementioned, there are countless of beautiful hiking and cycling trails to be found in this region. You could, for example, go for a hike in the Collendoorn nature reserve. This nature reserve was a landfill until 1988 and has since been covered in plants, which now makes it a beautiful and special hiking area.

If you want to see more of the surroundings, you can go on a walk through Rheeze. This village is a true farmers community and during your walk you can stop at several places for a nice cup of coffee or a delicious lunch! The walk is 12,8 kilometres long and takes about 3 hours.

Do you rather go by bike? Then the municipality of Hardenberg is the place to be! Cycle the Hardenberg - Breeze round trip, a beautiful cycle route along and over the Vecht river some 43 kilometres long. Another beautiful cycle route in this region is the Paarse Loper Lemelerberg. This route runs through the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park and is good for 3.5 hours of fun on the bike.

Slagharen is also a wonderful place to go on a vacation with the whole family! Go crazy in Themepark Slagharen, an amazing theme park with exciting rollercoasters and many more attractions. Whether you're young or old: everyone has a fun time around here!

Do you fancy a bite to eat? Take the whole family to IJshoeve Bosman. This traditional ice cream parlour makes farmhouse ice cream from daily fresh milk in many different flavours. Your mouth is already watering when you walk in!

Are you looking for that one activity that is just that something different? That too is possible in Slagharen and the surrounding area! For example, you can go canoeing in the Hardenbergse white water course, the first white water course in the Netherlands that uses the natural lapse of a river. This is truly an extraordinary experience!
